My Realization…

One day I came to this realization: one of the longest relationships we’ll ever have in this lifetime is with our money. Not with our spouse, nor with our house, it’s with our money! Hence our relationship with money is incredibly important and if we’re going to be with it forever, we better know how to flourish financially.

Having worked with many clients over the years, I realized we all have different relationships with our money, some get overwhelmed by it, some fear it, some neglect it, while others love and embrace it. But did you know your unique relationship to money dictates how financially successful you’ll be in this lifetime? If you’re not happy with your financial situation, a big part is you haven’t created the right type of relationship with your money for it to flourish.

My Observations….

As time went on, I noticed something very interesting with clients, some people are able to follow a spending and savings plan effortlessly, while others would struggle, consistently spending beyond their means, almost like an addiction. I wondered to myself why is that two very similar people making the same kind of income have such different ways of behaving when it comes to their money?

Or what about the clients who would not invest in the stock market for the extreme fear of loss, while others love to gamble, and have immense appetites for risk and end up losing it all. What makes these individuals behave so differently when it comes to risking their money?

Then I noticed another group of clients who are consistently under-earning, having difficulty asking for a pay raise, and over working while being under paid. Or how about the business owners who love to put their heads into the sand and not think about money, and would rather go to the dentist than look at their finances, ultimately leading to their own financial downfall, while others are on top of their money and managing their finances with ease.

I also observed clients who are successful with money, those who built successful careers and businesses, growing their wealth, and building financially abundant lives: I noticed this group of clients have drastically different beliefs and ideas about money. Instead of having limiting beliefs, they have successful beliefs, and a wealthy mindset, and their behaviors and success are driven by this set of beliefs in their minds.

This is when I realized our financial success and failure has little to do with actual money! It has to do with our beliefs and views about money, and the stories we tell ourselves about money. This completely dictated how we react around money and ultimately our financial failures and successes.

What is Financial Harmony?

According to the eastern philosophy of money, a concept called Financial Harmony: money is a form of energy and there’s a perfect harmony between yin and yang energy. A person cannot only receive money and never give or share, nor only give but don’t’ know how to receive. We must bring harmony into our financial lives by balancing the two energies. Financial chaos occurs when our relationship with money is not healthy: when we let unhealthy beliefs, ideas, and habits about money drive our financial behavior.

Where did we get our belief system about money?

Where did we get all the limiting beliefs that impedes our financial success? We develop our beliefs from a very young age and we absorbed these unconsciously.

We observe how our parents and caregivers were with money, whether they were constantly stressed about money, or if they were generous with it. Were your parents and caregivers strict about money? Did someone you know take large risks with money? All of these factors have a big impact on our money belief system. Even things we saw on tv can have an impact on our young impressionable brains.

Money is not simply about the dollars. It’s deeply personal and emotional. The problem is we are not usually aware of the unconscious beliefs that’s been hardwired into us since childhood and throughout other important moments of life. It is these unconscious beliefs that are driving our financial behaviors and creating chaos in our financial lives.

I realized I needed to help clients get to the root of these unconscious beliefs and bring them into awareness so they can begin to replace these limiting beliefs with new and empowering ones that will aid them in financial success. Unless we get to the root cause of our limiting money beliefs, our financial lives will not change for the better.

Your experiences since childhood are stored in your subconscious mind and they drive 95% of your everyday behavior. The other 5% is driven by your conscious mind. Most of our emotions, drives and behaviors happen automatically and unconsciously throughout the day.

Your subconscious mind may be storing limiting and fearful emotions regarding money, or feelings of lack instead of abundance. These emotions are the byproduct of your experiences growing up and they are driving all of your financial beliefs and behaviors in present day.

Reprogramming Your Subconscious Mind
